Who knows what else Montreal has in store for us this summer (or even this weekend). Will restaurants stay reopened? Will everyone be summoned back home to shelter in place again? Will I get to hug my parents anytime soon?
But there is one thing I know for sure: I want new shoes.
Even though my summer plans barely extend beyond quick trips around the neighborhood and reading in the backyard, I still find myself stalking the internet for new footwear. It's a problem.
The big question: What shoes does a person need when she has nowhere to go?
After much consideration and deliberation -- don't forget, I've been home since March 15th with PLENTY of time to obsess over anything and everything -- I've narrowed down an assortment of lockdown-friendly summer shoes. Here's what I'm gearing up to buy :)
Pretty Sandals
These are for when I want to forfeit absolute comfort, and look moderately cute instead. All three are from l'Intervalle (which has basically become the only place I shop for non-sneakers). Flats are obviously the way to go, but I threw a pair of heeled white mules into the mix, on the off-chance I want to get *dressed up* lol.
Casual Kicks
I started wearing Converse a million years ago. (Okay, more like fifteen years ago.) There's a pair in my shoe rotation at all times. Normally, I'm an ivory low-top person, but I've been seeing the classic black hi-tops styled up super cute and want to give it a shot myself. As for the Veja V-12 sneakers, I'm obsessed with their classic shaped and pared down styling. The quality is also supposed to be great.
Last but not least...
SUPER Casual
Spending $150 on clunky, quasi-hideous pair of sandals is painful.
The thing is... I LOVE THEM! I can own a dozen pairs of cute summery shoes, but will always find a reason to wear these ones everyday.
They are so damn sturdy and comfortable. I bought my last pair four summers ago and only needed to replace them this year. The white Arizonas look clean and fresh -- wish me luck keeping them in that condition.
