A couple from Longueuil was giving up their three-year old Boston Terrier. (Juggling a pup, a cat, and a newborn baby had proven too burdensome for them to bear.) While I personally couldn't fathom parting with the little dude, I respect their choice to find him a new family -- one that was willing and able to give him the attention he deserves. Frankly, their decision was the best thing to ever happen to me lol.
So, on a Monday morning, Josh went to claim Reggie while I excitedly (more like impatiently) counted down the minutes of my workday.
Feels like a blip.
Feels like he's been here forever.
Three years of being woken up at 7am (never a minute later) for breakfast.
Three years of treat-based bribery.
Three years of waiting for us to fall asleep before sneaking into the bed.
Three years of the best snuggles you've ever had.
Three years of smuggling him into stores and coffee shops.
Three years of being stared down through every bite of breakfast, from barely half a meter away.
Three years of Hero's Welcomes every time you come through the front door.
Three years of peeing on strangers' bikes. (REGGIE WHY?)
Three years of the foulest, most knock-you-over farts.
Three years of running into the kitchen at the sound of a package being opened.
Three years of stealing your spot on the couch so he can snooze.
Three years of seemingly boundless energy.
Three years of very intense playdates with Enzo.
Three years of unwavering hope that maybe, MAYBE mom and dad will drop all their dinner on the floor.
The plan is to celebrate with treats (obviously), tons of smooches, and maybe even a winding walk up Mont Royal. We love you so much, Regis Gordon Selintino! You are tons of spunk in a tiny, tuxedoed package. This might sound corny but it's so, so true: With every passing day, you make life better and better!
