Floral printed cut-off denim shorts! (Phew, that was a mouthful.)

So dang cute, right? These ones are from Zara -- I'm particularly fond of the bright Warhol-y vibe of the last pair.

However, there's no denying the sad fact that, wearing these, I would fully resemble a six-year old on the last day of kindergarten. It is what it is. I'll just settle for admiring them from afar (and being more-than-a-little jealous of everyone who pulls them off).

What I Might Wear If I Had Somewhere To Be

In the last twelve months, my wardrobe hasn't evolved beyond jeans, tees, chunky sweaters, and pyjamas. I have even acquired a growing collection of fleece joggers -- garments that didn't exist in my closet pre-pandemic. Surely, I'm not alone in saying that lazy-wear (the comfier, shlumpier cousin to loungewear) is the only fashion trend* to take-off in a truly pervasive way this year.

*I use the term fashion trend in the loosest way possible.

That being said... No one can stop you from fantasizing about real clothes, even if (like me) you are home roughly twenty-three hours a day, EVERY day.

What am I daydreaming about lately? Sweater vests! The preppy, borderline-dorky vibe is really fun, and I'm impressed by the many different ways these pieces can be styled/layered. Although I'm unconvinced I could ever actually pull one off, I still find myself mentally bookmarking sleeveless knitwear I might impulsively buy if, say, I had a *real indoor place* to go to lol.

Fall Cardigans

Is there a more iconic cardigan moment than Katie Holmes' famous brami from last summer?

Fall in Montreal means shivering in the morning, sweating in the afternoon sun, then back to freezing by dinner. Layering is your best weapon in the fight against the weather's power moves.

My ideal cardi is soft, chunky, cozy, and worn overtop a silk camisole. These sweaters also great fully buttoned and worn like a regular popover, or lazily draped over your shoulders to keep warm without messing up your outfit lol.

Also worth the effort: Choosing sweater knits made with natural fibers, like cotton or wool. The better quality comes at a higher price but normally lasts longer with wear. 

Here's a handful of cardis that are on my radar!

  

  

  

Top to bottom, left to right:

1. This chunky alpaca-blend grandpa cardi from Aritzia is basically a stylish house coat (except fully acceptable to be worn in public lol). The textured knit and overall heftiness lands it firmly in Dream Sweater Territory.

2. I wanted this square-ish, super girly Everlane cardigan sooo bad last year, but (foolishly) never pulled the trigger. How cute is that neckline and those buttons?

3. Frank And Oak came out with really cute twinsets. While I would definitely spring for the matching tank top, this sage-toned lightweight rib is certainly nice on its own.

4. Loving the oversize vibe and big buttons of this Zara cardigan. Bonus: It's made with recycled poly fibers, so you can feel moderatly less guilty about buying fast fashion.

5. Madewell's Colburne cardigan is a classic shape, has patch pockets, and looks especially cute in lavender. Say no more.

6. Gap's knitwear is pretty reliable for its decent quality and affordable price point (they routinely offer 40% off their merchandise). This black marled mock neck looks like a sturdy basic that can be easily integrated into any closet. 

7. Obsessed with the shoulder detail, large covered buttons, and rich color on this H&M cardi.

8. Equally enamored by the honeycomb-like texture/design of this Other Stories' cable knit v-neck.

9. More gorgeous texture from Other Stories. That color! Those buttons! Practically all Other Stories' cardigans are knockouts this season. If only they shipped to Canada!

Graphic Tees

So, do you wear them?

I like to tease Josh for owning approximately three hundred graphic tees. Truth is, they're pretty cool-looking, and sometimes even double as a souvenir from an awesome show, trip, etc.

Personally, I'm a fan of them :) even though I only own a couple. As someone who wears a variation of basic top + jeans almost every day, I like how screen prints lend an extra touch of character to an otherwise plain-ish outfit.

Random aside: Remember, back in like 2010, when everyone was crazy about blazers? Fairly certain I went to someone's bachelor party (don't ask) wearing a neon pink Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tour tee layered under a shoulder-pad-laden leather blazer -- and felt VERY COOL about those choices lol. (I wonder where that top went?)

From time to time, Frank And Oak collaborates with graphic artists to release a capsule of screen tees. I'm usually a big fan of those collections, but their current partnership with Na Kim, an illustrator from Brooklyn, is particularly cute!

  

Seriously coveting the softcore/hardcore one because it cracks me up! Safe to bet that, come September, it will wind up in my closet.

Cutest Spring Clothes For Tiny Ones

Any excuse to share a pic of Baby D ;)

Didn't intend to post anything today. Fate had other plans.

I was rooting around online this morning, looking for new duds to give a certain wild-haired nephew of mine, and was FLOORED by what I found on H&M's website. Just the sweetest, cheeriest, most adorable selection of springtime kidswear I've seen from a big retailer. (And I've done my fair share of shopping for baby clothes.)

Even better: Everything is well priced, if not downright inexpensive. I was beside myself!

Felt compelled to share this revelation in case someone out there is shopping for kids clothes, too.

These are a few ridiculously cute choices available. It was very, very difficult to narrow down Domenic's selection lol.

  

  

  

(Judging by the pieces that caught my eye, I suspect my future-kid's wardrobe will be completely striped and animal themed. Totally fine with that.)

SO CUTE, right?

I should have filtered my search by category and size. Browsing all the merchandise would get crushing because a ton of good stuff wasn't available in Dom's size. And don't even get me started on the girls clothes. Just look at what I had to turn down!

  

  

For the record, I would wear all of these.
