3 Fun Options For A Summertime Movie Night

It's been months since I last set foot in a movie theatre -- probably the longest I've gone without the cinema since eighth grade. In my mind, a spectre of the pandemic still looms over those public spaces. I'm just not ready to take the risk (yet).

Instead, we are making do with countless at-home movie nights. (Which, if you know me, isn't exactly a stretch from the normal routine.) Having done extensive legwork in the field lol, I strung together some titles that make for good summertime entertainment :)

Linking to all the trailers so you can check them out for yourself!

Palm Springs

I had a surprising amount of fun watching Palm Springs! Perfect if you're looking for a quasi-unconventional romantic comedy with easy laughs and very cute chemistry between main characters. The story itself is pretty silly, so be ready to suspend reality.

Snack pairing: Beer! Preferably, a local brew with a trendy-looking, colorful label ;)

The Birdcage

You might remember that I rewatched The Birdcage back in May. I haven't stopped thinking about it since! Rarely does a movie give me genuine, unrelenting belly laughs -- watching this one, I was cackling until my stomach hurt and tears rolled down my cheeks, and kept youtube-ing favorite scenes for days afterward. The best!

Snack pairing: White wine and buttered toast points.

Knives Out

Knives Out is the least summery of the bunch, but its energy is super entertaining, making it perfect for a movie night anytime! It's a whodunnit story whose tone has a distinctly Clue-y quality, and a mammoth cast of completely outrageous characters. Let me know if you can guess the ending.

Snack pairing: Whisky, with a slice of leftover birthday cake.
